Privacy
This notice covers the official N. J. Renshaw author site and voluntary subscriptions to The Machine Witness.
Who controls the list
N. J. Renshaw controls the subscriber list. Privacy, access, correction, deletion, and unsubscribe requests can be sent to njrenshaw.author@proton.me.
What is collected
If you subscribe, the service processes your email address, confirmation and subscription status, signup information needed to document consent, and delivery events such as bounces, unsubscribes, opens, or link clicks where those features apply. The static author site itself does not run first-party analytics or advertising pixels.
Why it is used
The address is used only to send The Machine Witness, related editorial notices, and occasional new-book notices from N. J. Renshaw. The legal basis is your consent. Subscription requires a confirmation email; an unconfirmed address is not added as a subscribed contact.
Email service
EmailOctopus, a product of Three Hearts Digital Ltd, processes contact data to provide the form, confirmation, list, delivery, and reporting service. EmailOctopus states that contact lists are stored on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in Ireland and may be made available to its email delivery providers when messages are sent. Its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab) and GDPR information (opens in a new tab) explain its processing.
Retention and withdrawal
Your address remains on the list until you unsubscribe, withdraw consent, or request deletion, subject to limited records that may be necessary to honour a suppression request or meet legal obligations. Every publication email includes an unsubscribe route. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
Sharing and sale
The list is not sold. It is not exchanged with other authors and no outside address is added without its owner’s request. Data is shared only with service providers needed to operate email delivery, or where disclosure is legally required.
Web fonts
The site requests its typefaces from Google Fonts. Loading those files creates a connection to Google and may transmit technical request data such as an IP address and browser information. Google describes its processing in its Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).
The embedded form
The Machine Witness page loads the subscription form from EmailOctopus only on that page. Opening or using the form creates a connection to EmailOctopus and may transmit technical request data such as an IP address and browser information needed to deliver and protect the service.
The form also uses Google reCAPTCHA to distinguish human requests from automated abuse. Google may receive technical request data under its Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) and Terms of Service (opens in a new tab).
